Spinal Tap
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
The spinal column is among the core areas of the human body, representing the single largest, unbroken set of connections between the body and the brain. As such, the spinal column and pretty much anything and everything around it, are integral to human operations. However, like all parts of the body, the spinal column can sometimes be prone to a number of physical maladies, not least of which is lower back pain.
The pain is often attributed to strenuous activity involving lifting or over-exerting back muscles. This is commonly displayed for comedic effect in the media, though it occurs often enough in real life to be a concern. Lower back pain is most often an effect of improperly lifting a weight, which puts undue stress on the lower back, as well as some areas of the legs. As the body ages, lower back pain becomes more frequent. This is due to the lower back muscles losing tensile strength and flexibility, along with the spinal column slowly becoming more brittle. Lower back pain, at this stage of the game, is often seen to be just the tip of the iceberg.
Lower back pain, however, may be a sign of something more alarming in store. The spinal column is home to a number of nerves and neural connections. Lower back pain is a relatively minor concern, as more serious damage to the spinal column can result in partial or total paralysis, depending on the extent of the damage. Barring that extreme – but very real – possibility, the loss of some motor functions or feeling may also occur if the spine is damaged.
Another concern would be spinal arthritis, which can sometimes go undetected until it is too late. This is understandable, as spinal arthritis does not usually have the same visual signals as arthritis does in the rest of the body. However, the general list of symptoms of arthritis are the same.
The symptoms of arthritis may be similar regardless of what area of the body is affected, but the core problem is that some of these signs are easy to be mistaken for something else. One of the most common and prevalent symptoms of arthritis is pain in the affected areas. This is fine for other parts of the body, but for the back, most people tend to ignore it and believe it to be no different from back pains induced by muscle stress or excessive physical work. Only when the pain becomes a semi-regular occurrence do some people consider the possibility that the problem might be more than just “normal” pain.
Difficulty in movement, particularly of the lower back and lower limbs, is also among the commonly ignored symptoms of arthritis. This is sometimes speculated to be caused by people believing that these problems are merely the result of aging or improper nutrition. Indeed, difficulty in moving some muscles and bones in the body can be caused by the aging process, which generally limits the range and speed of a person’s movements. Also, it is a popular conception that poor nutrition, or the lack of specific nutrients, can make moving the lower half of the body difficult. As a result, as one of the symptoms of arthritis, this is often ignored.
One of the symptoms of arthritis that people generally do not ignore, however is spinal deformity, which is the most outward physical manifestation of spinal arthritis. While this is easily confused with other possible causes of spinal deformity, there is virtually no chance that it would
be ignored.

As we all know (or most of us), nowadays our physical appearance has become the main factor that is taken in consideration when we come in contact with people. Unfortunately, for many people it’s the way we look physically and not who we are as human beings that’s more important. This problem is even more evident among teenagers. Physical appearance is something that, without doubt, places a lot of pressure on teens and continues to affect them as they grow to become adults. And this importance of “physical appearance” takes on a whole new level when a person suffers from a physically altering condition such as acne.
Acne is one of the most widespread physical skin conditions that affects not only teens but adults as well. There are many different types of acne, and although there are also many different treatments that have been developed to fight acne, there’s still the need to find a definitive cure for it. However, aside from treating the physical appearance caused by acne, there’s something worst that’s caused by this horrible skin disorder. What happens when people suffering from acne is affected psychologically, and may shy away from attending social events with friends or colleagues because of how it makes them feel? How could they cope with that!
Again, this is a problem that can become even stronger among teens. The reason for this is that as teens are still developing a strong sense of who they are, the experience of being neglected could become a very important turning point that will certainly affect who they turn out to be as adults. But it does not stop there. It has been reported that many adults feel the same psychological effects of acne, and say it makes them feel ugly and undesirable in appearance.
Some studies have shown that psychological effects of such conditions can lead to depression, eating disorders, and social anxiety. And while this often starts during adolescence, these psychological effects can carry over as adults, resulting in even more serious psychological problems. So, is there anything that can be done to prevent this from occurring?
Well, there are some things acne sufferers do to try to cope with possible psychological problems. Many acne sufferers s
eek coverage that will hide their acne, usually in the form of a cream concealer or makeup. These products can be purchased over-the-counter, and do a good job covering up most mild to moderate acne. For more severe cases however, a doctor can prescribe something to conceal this condition.
Also, even though it has been reported that diet plays but a small role in the causes of acne, there may be certain foods that influence breakouts. If you are one who feels this may be affecting your acne, the best recommended tip is to stay away from those foods that seem to be causing the problem, and see if that helps you. It is considered that diet could play a larger role in adult acne than in teen acne, so it doesn’t hurt to start early.
Another factor that may play a role in self-esteem, especially in teens, is the misconception that acne is caused by having unclean skin. While this isn’t true, it could cause acne sufferers to become more anxious about how others view them, which can cause self-esteem to drop.
Something you should keep in mind is that in order to feel better about yourself you first need to feel better about your acne. And in order to accomplish the latter, you must treat your acne of course. This may be something you can do on your own, or it may require the help of a physician. Either way, try to find a treatment that works for you. If you are feeling anxious and depressed about your condition, feel free to talk to your doctor about these feelings and what you can do to alleviate them. Even if you aren’t sure, it can be a good idea to seek medical attention for your acne. And even if prescription medications aren’t necessary, a doctor can help you find a treatment that works best for you, and you will be on your way to recovery.
Another reason to see a doctor is that, as we mentioned earlier, teens who suffer from acne early on can usually expect it to worsen as they get older, and even continue on into adulthood. This could certainly lead to more severe types of acne. Therefore, the sooner you seek medical attention, the chances of you suffering of worst physical effects like acne scarring will be minimum. And this undoubtedly could mean even greater psychological effects.

Skin Cleansing Tips
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Skin cleansing is an important part of skin care routine. Cleansing is essential to remove makeup, dirt and grime from face. Facial cleansing should be effective without irritating the skin and should suit our skin as well. Cleansing too often will take away all precious natural oils from your skin and will only make dry skin drier and oily skin more oily. Essential for possessing a flawless complexion, cleansing is the most important skin care activity. Thorough and regular cleansing stimulates the skin and helps to slough off dead cells that lie on the skins surface. Skin cleansing, in addition to other cleansing methods like colon cleansing and liver cleansing, can also be used effectively for the treatment of multiple chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, and pesticide and chemical exposure. Skin cleansing is the method used to remove the surface dirt and other substances which accumulate and cause clogging of the pores of your skin. It is also used to release stored toxins under the skin. In the skin cleansing method, the elimination of toxins is usually done by stimulating the lymphatic system.
Skin cleansing also helps to improve blood circulation and the removal of dead cells from the skin. You can use long handled natural bristle brush or loofah sponge for skin cleansing. The most damaging effect of the sun is that it dehydrates the skin causing it to become dry and rough and wrinkled, freckles, pigmentation and patches may also occur. Next to sun exposure, smoking is the highes
t factor in wrinkling. Skin cleansing is very much essential, because pollution, grease and grime cling to the skin, clogging pores, while the body eliminates toxins through perspiration. Smokers have more wrinkles than people who don’t smoke. Cigarette smoke releasesfree radicals that break down the vitamin C in the skin and contribute to premature wrinkling. Nicotine also causes small blood vessels and capillaries to contract, diminishing circulation and depriving the skin of nutrients. If the cleansing process is not thoroughly undertaken, the skin will look and feel sluggish, tired and minor skin problems and irritations will transpire. After cleansing, always use a non-stringent, acid-based toner that will remove any remaining dirt on your face.
Following steps should be taken while applying cleanser :
1. Always wash your hands clean first. This will prevent the transfer of bacteria to your face.
2. Cleansing cream should be applied in generous quantity on cheeks, chin, neck and forehead.
3. Always use a moist cotton to remove the cream as the dry cotton absorbs the moisture from the skin which should not be lose.
4. Cleansing should be dome two times a day, once in the morning and again before going to bed.
5. Depending on whether your skin is normal to oily or normal to dry, you should use cleansers and products that are formulated for your specific skin type.
6. Cotton wool should come out clean nor do the cleansing twice a day.

Sometimes you may think that you only have a simple cold. But oftentimes symptoms of your cold begin to worsen and persist for weeks and pain is felt in the sinus region. If the cold is left untreated, excessive mucus may drip down to the back of the throat or in the sinus cavities that can result to a sinus infection. People often confuse cold with acute sinusitis as their symptoms are too similar. You often think that you only have a cold until the symptoms worsen and that’s when you decide to seek medical advice.
Your cold is sinus related if your condition is characterized by runny nose, cough, nasal congestion, mild headaches, post nasal drip, fever, swelling around the nose, eyes and cheeks, fatigue and sore throat. Sinus attack also includes pain and swelling in the throat, itchiness in the nose and pain and swelling on one or both sides of the nose. Sinus headaches are usually felt in the forehead and in the face just below the eyes. If you are greeted with headaches in the morning, it could be a typical symptom of sinusitis. Do you feel pain when your forehead over the frontal sinuses is touched? This could indicate that your frontal sinuses are inflamed.
Note that symptoms of sinusitis in children are less explicit. They may experience common cold for more than ten days. And this could give them a sick appearance with high fever and discolored discharge from the nose.
There are several home remedies for sinusitis that you can use
to avoid the sinus infection from getting serious. You can use spicy foods such as garlic and onion. Small mild doses would be taken at first and increasing them gradually. Carrot juice has also been found beneficial in treating sinusitis. This juice can be taken separately or in combination with beet juice, cucumber juice or spinach juice. But nothing can be more effective than a diet rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A helps build healthy mucous membranes in the nose and throat. Valuable sources of vitamin A include mangoes, papaya, egg yolk, carrots, leafy vegetables and tomatoes among others. Vitamin C has also proven to be effective in treating sinus infection.
Avoiding stressful activities could also prevent sinusitis. Likewise, avoid smoking and exposure to environmental pollutants to prevent sinus infection. Additionally, treat allergies promptly and drink plenty of fluids to increase moisture within your body. If your allergies inflame your nasal passages, you are more likely to have a strong reaction to all irritants. So if you suspect that your sinusitis may be caused by dust, mold, pollen or any other allergen that can trigger an upper respiratory reaction you should consult your doctor. Your doctor can conduct tests to determine your allergy and prescribe the necessary medication.

Pain That Brings You To Your Knees
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Have you ever imagined yourself not having knees? Surely, it is a delight to see those shapely, long legs, but without the knees, those legs will be useless. The knee is a weight-bearing joint that connects the thigh and the leg to each other. The role of the knees is to allow movement of the legs by flexing (bending) and extending (straightening) to perform normal daily functions such as walking, sitting, standing, running, and even kicking. However, today’s active society and fast-paced lifestyle has resulted in the rising number of problems related to knee conditions.
When acute knee injuries and trauma occur, parts of the anatomy may be ruptured, such as the ligaments and cartilages which cause knee pain. Habitual or chronic overuse of the knees can cause inflammation, making the knees swell and painful.
Knee pain is no longer a rare case and has become a very common musculoskeletal complaint that brings people to pay a visit to their doctors. Some people may consider knee pain as a minor problem, but it can lead to serious discomfort and acute disability, especially if the damage is severe. Although most knee pains are caused by an injury, medical conditions such arthritis, gout, infections, and chondromalacia can also bring you to your knees.
Acute knee pain is described as severe pain that comes on suddenly and is usually the result of injury or infection. Some of the more common knee injuries and their signs and symptoms include the following:
Ligament Injuries – when the tough bands of tissue that connect the thighbone (femur) and the lower leg bone (tibia and fibula) together, also known as ligaments, are torn as a result of a fall or contact trauma, most likely it will cause instant pain in the injured area. Discomfort may range from mild to severe. Pain is heightened when you walk or bend your knee.
Tendon Injuries – tendons are thick, fibrous cords that attach muscles to the bone. Tendinitis is irritation and inflammation of one or more tendons and may involve one or both knees. Pain and swelling takes place at the front knee and below the knee cap. One will not be able to straighten the knee when tendons have been totally ruptured.
Meniscus Injuries – involves tears in the C-shaped cartilage that curves within your knee joint. It may hamper knee movement and cause your knee joint to lock so that you can’t extend it completely. When this happens, the knee must be surgically treated.
Loose Body – is when an injury or degeneration of bone or cartilage causes a piece of bone or cartilage to break off and float in the joint space. This may not create any problems unless the loose body interferes with knee joint movement — the effect is something like a pencil caught in a door hinge — leading to pain and a locked joint.
Dislocated Kneecap – involves the slipping of the triangular bone that covers the f
ront of your knee (patella) out of place, usually to the outside of your knee. Dislocation is visible and your kneecap swings from side to side. There is intense pain and swelling in the affected area and difficulty walking or straightening your knee. Once a kneecap has been dislocated, there is greater risk of it happening again.
Osgood-Schlatter Disease – affects teens and preteens who are into active sports. This overuse syndrome causes pain, swelling and tenderness at the bony prominence (tibial tuberosity) just below the kneecap and frequently affects just one knee, but may develop in both knees.
Hyperextended Knee – is an injury in which the knee extends beyond its normally straightened position, such that it bends back on itself. Sometimes the damage is relatively minor, with pain and swelling when you try to extend your knee. But a hyperextended knee may also lead to a partial or complete ligament tear.
Septic Arthritis – is a condition when the knee joint becomes infected, leading to swelling, pain and redness. Septic arthritis often occurs with a fever.
Sometimes an injury can lead to chronic knee pain. Often, chronic pain results from a medical condition such as:
Rheumatoid Arthritis – this is considered to be the most debilitating of the more than 100 types of arthritis and can affect almost any joint in the body, including the knees. Aside from pain and swelling, aching and stiffness will be experienced when you get up in the morning or after periods of inactivity. It may lead to loss of motion in the knees and eventual deformity of the knee joints.
Osteoarthritis – is also known as degenerative arthritis and the most common type of arthritis. It’s a wear-and-tear condition that occurs when the cartilage in your knee deteriorates with use and age. It usually develops gradually and may cause varying degrees of pain and swelling when you stand or walk, especially before a change in the weather. It also can lead to stiffness, especially in the morning and after you’ve been active, and to a loss of flexibility in your knee joints.
Gout – is a form of arthritis characterized by redness, swelling and intense pain in the knee that comes on suddenly and without warning, usually at night time. The pain usually lasts five to 10 days and then stops. The discomfort subsides gradually over one to two weeks, leaving your knee joints apparently normal and pain-free.
There are some relatively minor instances of knee pain that respond well to self-care measures. However, more serious injuries, such as a ruptured ligament or tendon, may require surgical repair. Moreover, not every knee problem can be prevented but one can take certain measures to reduce the risk of injury or disease. Good rehabilitation and focus on strength training of the muscles that control your kneecaps can greatly help in the prevention of dislocation as well as other injuries.

Anti Aging Skin Care Tips
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Many of the external causes of aging skin are determined by the health and lifestyle decisions you make every day. Anti-aging skin care supplements works in complete synchronization with the body, complementing and supplying the necessary anti-aging nutritive requirements that the skin needs to remove wastes and repair itself, allowing it to maintain its elasticity and reduce the possibility of premature aging. Anti-aging skin care products that focus on rejuvenating the skin often contain high intensity moisturizers. The reason is that skin loses its natural moisture with advancing age, causing it to wrinkle and develop blemishes. Such products may also contain anti-oxidants to counter the deterioration of skin cells. Many anti-aging skin care products aim to boost the skin’s production of collagen, which promotes its elasticity and gives it structure.
A good anti aging treatment regimen can make a huge difference in the appearance of aging facial skin. Skin aging is 90% of the time due to sun damage and 10% due to genetic factors. Exercise helps keep us from aging by keeping weight down, working the heart, toning muscles, and getting the blood flowing. People who exer
cise look younger and feel younger. It’s a most beneficial habit to get into. Anti-aging skin care products tend to approach the issue of aging from various angles. The skin is obviously the primary focus, since dull, wrinkled skin is a dead giveaway. Natural anti-aging skin care products do not contain harmful chemical preservatives, mineral oils, fragrances or other synthetic additives. This makes them far more skin-friendly. Intrinsic or biological aging is due to genetic factors. The intrinsic factors are the slow down of skin turnover, decreased collagen and sebum production.
Anti-Aging Skin Care Tips and Facts:
1. Washing of the face with soap cold water is inadmissible for any skin. To a normal skin in the mornings easy enough swill warm water.
2. Cleanse your skin with medicated soap.
3. Use light antiseptic anti aging cosmetic product for smooth function.
4. Avoid taking oily stuff.
5. You can use a mask of clay or mud. Use antibacterial cleansing lotion to avoid skin rashes.
6. Using lipstick, helps protect your lips from harmful rays.
7. Eat green vegetable, fruits and plenty of milk.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Acne
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Acne is a skin problem that usually begins in the young teenage years
and can last until the early 20s or even later. It consists of mild to
severe outbreaks of pimples and cysts – mainly on the face, but also on
the back, arms and chest. Cysts are lumps under the skin that have pus
and other tissue in them, but do not come to a head like pimples do.
These can sometimes cause scarring and blotchy, uneven skin colour.
Unfortunately, acne hits people at a time when they most want to look
their best. Acne can make teenagers feel embarrassed and bad about
themselves. There are treatments that can help if acne is causing
distress. If you are concerned about skin problems or skin care, you
should talk to your doctor or chemist for information about possible
treatments.
Hormones and genetics
At the start of puberty, a whole lot of hormones are released into the
body. One of these hormones is androgen. Both boys and girls have
androgen, but boys have more of it. Androgen affects oil glands in the
skin of the face, neck, back, shoulders and chest. It makes the glands
grow bigger and produce more oil (sebum). Bacteria on the skin make
this oil thicken so that the pores become blocked, resulting in
blackheads, pimples and cysts. A teenager is more likely to get acne if
one of their parents had it during adolescence. But even in the same
family, some people may get worse acne than others. Girls tend to get
it at a younger age than boys and it can worsen or ‘break out’ at
certain times of a girl’s menstrual cycle, such as just before a
period. Boys often have more outbreaks than girls, and they often seem
to get worse pimples and more cysts.
Self-help strategies
Suggestions for managing acne include:
* Washing – cleaning the skin can help, but even
people with very clean skin can have problems with acne. Try washing
the affected areas two to three times per day. Don’t overdo it. Too
much washing can cause other skin problems, such as dryness or skin
irritations. Try to keep hair clean and off the face and neck, since
oil from the hair can make acne worse.
* Make-up – choose water-based, oil free products.
Make-up worn during the day should be thoroughly removed at night.
* Don’t squeeze – do not pick or squeeze pimples.
This can get germs into the skin around the pimple and make things a
lot worse. It can lead to scarring of the skin too.
* Stress – Stress can trigger an outbreak of
pimples. Stress causes the release of chemicals into the brain that can
make o
il glands release more oil onto the skin. This is why pimples
seem to magically appear on stressful days, such as at the time of an
exam or special date. Usually it is difficult to control things like
tests or special events, but it’s important to know that the stress has
brought on the outbreak. The outbreak is not a sign that the treatments
do not work.
* Diet – many people think that lollies or chocolate
cause pimples. Research has not been able to prove any such link, but
some people find that it works this way for them. It is possible that a
person eats chocolate when they are under a lot of stress, and that it
is actually the stress that causes the pimples. However, healthy eating
may help.
Acne treatment from your pharmacy
Some acne treatments can be bought over the counter at chemists or
supermarkets. These work by cleaning the skin and drying up excess oil.
If you are using any form of treatment and your skin becomes very dry
or irritated, stop using it straight away. It is a good idea to talk to
the chemist before you buy a product to find out which treatments are
the most useful. Don’t rely on advertisements or the advice of friends.
Medical treatment
If the acne is bad, your doctor may prescribe medication or arrange a
referral to a dermatologist. Medications can lead to huge improvements
in how the skin looks and can reduce the number of new pimples. Medical
treatment can include:
* Antibiotics to kill the germs, which are part of the cause
* Medications to reduce the amount of oil being produced
* Medications to reduce the amount of androgen in the body.
Where to get help
* Your doctor
* Your local chemist
* Dermatologist.
Things to remember
* Acne is a skin problem consisting of mild to severe outbreaks of blackheads, pimples and cysts.
* The triggers of acne include some of the hormones associated with puberty and stress.
* Self-help strategies include washing the affected
areas regularly, using water-based make-up and resisting the urge to
squeeze or pick at spots.
* See your doctor or chemist for information about possible treatments.

Cytomel steroid for sports
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Cytomel (liothyronine sodium)
Contents: 1. Cytomel description 2. Cytomel Characteristics 3. Stacking and Use 4. How and where buy Cytomel online
Cytomel description Drug Class: Synthetic thyroid hormone
Pharmaceutical Name: Liothyronine sodium
Brand Name: Cytomel
Effective Dose: 25-100 mcg/day
Cytomel is not a steroid, but more a of a cutting aid. It’s a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone tri-iodio-thyronine or T3, made up of a metabolite of the amino acid tyrosine and 3 iodine ions. In the body it in turn is made from another hormone, T4, which is secreted by the thyroid under influence of the pituitary hormone TSH (Thyroid stimulating hormone). If a shortage of either TSH or T4 is noted, usually doctors may opt for a replacement therapy. These days the most common prescription is synthetic T4 (synthroid), but in more severe cases of permanent thyroid dysfunction, the choice is given to Cytomel. Simply because T4 is mostly active through its conversion to T3 and T3 is 4-5 times stronger than T4 on a mg for µg basis.
How to Use Cytomel: Bodybuilders take advantage of these characteristics and stimulate their metabolism by taking Cytomel, which causes a faster conversion of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Bodybuilders, of course, are especially interested in an increased lipolysis, which means increased fat burning. Competing bodybuilders, in particular, use Cytomel during the weeks before a championship since Cytomel helps to maintain an extremely low fat content, without necessitating a hunger diet. Athletes who use low dosages of Cytomel report that by the simultaneous intake of steroids, the steroids become mote effective, most likely as the result of the faster conversion of protein. Nowadays, instead of Cytomel, athletes use Clenbuterol which is becoming more and more popular. Those who combine these two compounds will burn an enormous amount of fat. Cytomel is also popular among female bodybuilders. Since women generally have slower metabolisms than men, it is extremely difficult for them to obtain the right form for a competition given today’s standards. A drastic reduction of food and calories below the 1000 caloric/day mark can often be avoided by taking Cytomel. Women, no doubt, are more prone to side effects than men but usually get along well with 50 mcg/day. It is also important that Cytomel not be taken for more than six weeks. At least two months of abstinence from the drug needs to follow. Those who take high dosages of Cytomel over a long period of time are at risk of developing a chronic thyroid insufficiency.
In bodybuilding circles Cytomel is mostly used as fat-loss drug. Thyroid hormones are often referred to as the metabolic regulators of the body. High levels of T3 speed up the metabolism of an individual, allowing him to burn more calories and use calories more sufficiently. Generally ectopmorphic body-types have very high thyroid levels and in some cases a slight undiagnosed form of hyperthyroidism. Both hyper-and hypothyroidism can have severe consequences on an individual, such as goiters and other nasty stuff, so messing with your thyroid is not something I would advise to beginners. As with insulin, misuse of this compound can leave you dependent on exogenous T3 for the rest of your life (remember Frank Zane?). So some caution and research is required before putting Cytomel in your body. Generally cycles should be limited to 4-6 weeks tops, I recommend 3 and alternating cycles with 3-week cycles of clenbuterol. But most importantly, to avoid a crash or a shock to the thyroid function doses need to be built up over time and tapered off again. More so for cytomel than for any other drug in existence.
Bill Llewellyn says that Cytomel is not a drug to start off on, and that use of milder drugs like T4 (Synthroid) or triacana can help ease a person into the use of T3. I’m
inclined to disagree here however. Triacana is weak compound and I find of little use. Its not easily found anymore and not cheap either. T4 is basically similar to Cytomel except that its weaker. Something that users normally compensate with higher doses and sends them down a similar lane as simply using cytomel. Agreed, cytomel is NOT a drug for beginners, but with adequate research, experience with diet and some self-control, I don’t see why cytomel shouldn’t be the first thyoid compound used. But for recreational users looking for a fatburner, I still suggest using clenbuterol over cytomel for all intents and purposes. Cytomel is much more powerful, but clenbuterol is a lot safer for use. The results are easier to maintain with clenbuterol as well. Negative feedback in the thyroid may decrease natural levels of T3 in the body, causing a decrease of metabolic rate after coming off a cycle of T3. That can cause a rebound effect during which a lot of weight is gained back.
Cytomel Dosage: As for the dosage, one should be very careful since Cytomel is a very strong and highly effective thyroid hormone. It is extremely important that one begins with a low dosage, increasing it slowly and evenly over the course of several days. Most athletes begin by taking one 25 mcg tablet per day and increasing this dosage every three to four days by one additional tablet. A dose higher than 100 mcg/day is not necessary and not advisable.
For competitive bodybuilders Cytomel is an almost unmissable aid in contest preparation, along with clenbuterol and non-aromatizing steroids such as stanazolol, trenbolone, methenolone and so forth…
Stacking and Use: It can be stacked or alternated with Clenbuterol. I usually recommend to alternate, three weeks clen with three weeks cytomel, since clen loses most of its benefits after a short period of time and using cytomel for extended time-periods will increase the risk of permanent thyroid failure. Neither drug is terribly expensive so I see no problem in this. Some opt to use them together for 3-4 weeks, and then use an over the counter ECA stack to bridge with for an equal period of time, but I’m not such a big fan of that. Which naturally doesn’t mean its not effective, that’s just a personal opinion. Running it for three weeks, one could choose for a schedule as follows: 25/25/25/50/50/50/75/75/75/100/100/100/75/75/75/50/50/50/25/25/25 µg/day. If taken for 4 weeks, then run each dose for 4 days, 5 weeks then each dose for 5 days and so on. It is extremely important that the doses are tapered on and off and that a cycle never exceeds 6 weeks at the most.
Side Effects of Cytomel: Possible side effects are heart palpitation, trembling, irregular heartbeat, heart oppression, agitation, shortness of breath, excretion of sugar through the urine, excessive perspiration, diarrhea, weight loss, psychic disorders, etc., as well as symptoms of hypersensitivity. Our experience is that most symptoms consist of trembling of hands, nausea, headaches, high perspiration, and increased heartbeat. These negative side effects can often be eliminated by temporarily reducing the daily dosage. Those who use Cytomel over several weeks will experience a decrease in muscle mass.
As far as adding products, no ancillaries are needed, but its highly recommended that this is only used when anabolic/androgenic steroids are also being used. First of all the extra free calories work with the steroids to enhance results, but also because an increased level of thyroid hormones can be extremely catabolic and the use of anabolic compounds to counter muscle loss is a requirement here.

Throughout my childhood my brother Tom took up much of the family energy due to his mental illness. It wasn’t his fault or ours, it just happens that way in families. As I think back on how my parents dealt with the challenges, there are things I think they could have done better. Hindsight is 20/20, I know, and they did the best they could. But it’s a very tough situation and every one of us who has lived with it can offer suggestions to other families in crisis, which may spare them some pain. Here are mine.
Here are 5 ways to improve the family situation when a member has mental dis-ease.
1. Educate everyone about the illness. Knowledge is power so get books, talk to doctors, seek out support groups (see our resource section for ideas) and gather all the facts you can. You will each have different reactions to the situation, but at least you’ll share concrete information.
- Establish a support team of professionals. It’s not just the family member with mental illness that needs professional support. Anyone in the family and the family as a whole may need assistance with emotions, coping, communications, and cooperation.
- Talk with family members about the issues. Have family meetings to discuss feelings and problems each person is having. Share possible strategies for addressing problems. Allow each person to express their concerns openly and honestly. Even though the family unit has changed due to the illness, be creative and continue to stay connected as a family even if it “feels different”.
- Develop boundaries around the person’s illness. Decide what is appropriate “helping” and
what is classified as someone elses’s misplaced needs and “enabling”. It is very easy to fall into the trap of thinking the person cannot do things for him/herself, when often this is not the case. - Pay attention to your own wellness. It’s not at all unusual to become burnt out, and to start isolating yourself personally and as a family. Take extra good care of yourself. Spend time with friends, go to a museum and get inspired by great art, plant a flower, do things you enjoy. Even if it feels like a struggle at first, do it — because in the long run your health and sanity needs to be replenished so you can give to the rest of the family.
One word of caution here about the idea of “wellness” or taking care of your “self”. You may feel that taking good care of your “self” when the family member suffers from mental illness is just, well, plain ol’ “selfish”. But the fact is that being able to stay well enhances you’re abiliity to deal with your new family situation. In addition, caring for your “self” means your will have more patience and energy when they need you .
In the end, families face many challenges if mental illness is in the mix. Be proactive, realize this is manageable, and keep others involved in the process. Living your life as a family may have changed due to the mental illness but that doesn’t mean you are not still a “family”. Be creative and find other ways to do family things that make sense under the changing dynamics. Nothing is perfect but your response to the challenge and your ability to model proactive behaviors for other family members will assist them in moving forward.
