Rolex Wrist Watch Models: Datejust to Submariner By Mike Moon
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
The name Rolex is defined as a luxury watch that shows the class, success & perfection of the man or woman wearing it. It’s an obsession among high personality to own a precious
watch that complements their professional achievements. The Rolex models that have been most popular in history are:
Rolex Datejust : The Datejust models were introduced with a coin edge bezel, which later were replaced by a new fluted bezel along with a larger crown. In the mid-50′s, Rolex
introduced the Datejust (model 6605) with the cyclops, or the magnifying bubble that is placed over the date on the watch’s crystal. In 1956, Rolex released a Datejust model called the
“Thunderbird” (model 1625). This watch featured a Turn-O-Graph gold Bezel.
Originally, Rolex offered the Datejust in 18kt yellow gold and after seeing much success, they were offered in stainless steel, white gold, or platinum. By 1962 the two-tone Datejust
models were in circulation. Also around this time, the Datejusts were offered with an option of a Jubilee bracelet, an Oyster bracelet, or a leather strap. Additionally, Rolex replaced the
original four-digit case reference number with a five digit number. Around this time, Rolex also introduced the Oyster date which is very similar to the Datejust, the only difference being
2mm smaller. By then, the Datejust offered the “midsize” which is 80% the size of the original.
Rolex Submariner: In 1953 Rolex underwent stringent experiments, testing the Submariner prototype in deep waters to a depth of 3,150 meters (10,336 ft). The watch withstood the
hardest tests, having survived sub-zero temperatures, as well as the wear and tear of expeditions. Rolex launched the Submariner (model 6204) at the Basel Fair in 1954 although it is
believed that it was actually released in late 1953 and was based on the Rolex Explorer. On the contrary, the name “Submariner” was not officially patented until around 1960. When
introduced, the Submariner was powered by the A296 movement but was then replaced with the 1030 movement and Mercedes hands, which is more elongated than the modern day
version. In 1955, model 6538 replaced 6204, and the 6205 by 6536 respectively. Model 6536 then became 6536/1, featuring a chronometer version of the 1030 movement. New
Submariner models featured a new scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and an upgraded depth rating of 1,000 feet.
Rolex Cosmograph Daytona: Rolex were forerunners in developing the Oyster and Perpetual. Thus, Rolex was not well known for pioneering chronographs. However the success of the
Cosmograph impelled Rolex to be in the position of being the ultimate “sportsman’s” watch. These watches soon adopted the name “Daytona” after being sought out by some of the
biggest names in auto racing in one of the biggest racing communities of Daytona Beach, Florida. In the beginning, the Daytona’s were available in two dials, either in black with silver
registers or cream white with black registers. Soon, these dials adopted the name “Paul Newman” after he was seen wearing it in the movie “Winning”.
Rolex Day-Date : The Basel fair, the new Day-Date model (model 6511) had a window at the 12 position spelling out the day of the week and the numbered date was shown at the 3
position. Initially introduced as a niche model, The first model (6511) lasted just over a year before it was replaced by 6611. This model featured the new and improved caliber 1055
movement with its free sprung Micro-Stella balance and was the first to be labeled “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified”. This statement guaranteed the watch to remain within +
3.0 seconds per day. With very little design changes over the years, the first modification to the Day-Date was the addition of the “hack” feature in 1972. This allowed the second hand
to be stopped dead while the winding stem was completely pulled out, allowing the time to be synchronized with an accurate source. The Day-Date was available in 18kg gold or
platinum.
Similar to the Datejust model, the introduction of the Quick-set feature also accompanied other modifications for the Day-Date. The introduction of the sapphire crystal not only gave the
watch a much slimmer and better appearance, it also added to the durability and scratch resistance of the watch. The early Day-Date models were waterproof to165 feet (50 meters)
while the current model is safe at depths of up to 100 meters. Another improvement came in 1990 when the “Double Quick-Set” feature was introduced. Model 18238 allowed both the
date and day to be quickly set via the winding stem. Around the same time, Rolex had increasingly expanded their “Crown Collection” to feature a cast of precious stones though they
were available with diamond bezels from their inception.

Diagnosing bronchitis
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
There are many different methods when diagnosing bronchitis. The procedures used to diagnose bronchitis are painless and very simple. All you have to do is see a doctor if you think you have any bronchitis and he/ she will do some test to see if indeed you suffer from bronchitis.
The doctor will probably listen to your chest if you think you have bronchitis. This is the most simple way to diagnose bronchitis. If he/ she is still not very sure if you do have bronchitis, you might also have do have an X- ray to the chest. Because the main symptom of bronchitis is a cough with sputum, this mucus must also be tested to see what caused the bronchitis. This ilness, bronchitis may be causes by a virus, the same one that causes the cold or by a bacteria. By anodizing the sputum that you cough up when suffering from bronchitis, your doctor will be able to see if the bronchitis is caused by bacteria. Futrthermore, because the bronchitis symptoms are very similar to those of other medical conditions, your doctor will have to run some other testes in order to rule any other health problems besides bronchitis. The conditions which have similar symptoms to those of bronchitis are asthma, pneumonia or emphysema.
B
ronchitis, especially acute bronchitis is a condition that does not last more than a couple of weeks at the most. Acute bronchitis also heals on it’ s own, with only little help from you or your doctor. In normal cases a single bronchitis episode must not be a cause for concern, but it all depends on the persons’ s health. In some bronchitis cases, pneumonia can develop, after you have developed bronchitis. The bronchitis patients who are more at risk of developing this bronchitis complication are smokers, older people and persons that already have a respiratory condition. Infants are also more at risk of developing pneumonia as a result of bronchitis. If you have more than one bout of bronchitis, you should see a doctor. More than one bronchitis episode can be a cause for concern to you. These repeated bronchitis episodes may indicate that the illness has turned into something more serious, like chronic bronchitis, asthma or even other lung problems. Chronic bronchitis must be treated seriously, because this type of bronchitis increases your risk of developing cancer.
Antibiotics are not very good in treating bronchitis, because this condition, especially acute bronchitis is caused by a virus.

Omega 3 fish oil and its effect on mood and mental function
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
If you have lost your joie de vivre, then there is every chance that you are deficient in the essential fatty acids required for regulating mood and for efficient functioning of the brain. It is now well documented that insufficient Omega 3 fatty acids in the diet not only leads to an increased risk of developing physical health problems like heart disease and atherosclerosis, but also to mood and learning related disorders.
Studies show that people who are suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, ADD, postnatal depression, PMS, dyslexia and many other mood and learning related disorders have low levels of the essential Omega 3 fatty acids in their blood. High levels of the equally essential but over abundant Omega 6 fatty acids have also been found. This imbalance can turn out to be extremely debilitating for some, or it could simply mean low moods, an inability to concentrate and focus, irritability and a general feeling of malaise for others.
Over the past 70 years or so, we have dramatically increased our consumption of Omega 6 and all but annihilated our intake of Omega 3 and the staggering reality is that very few of us are actually getting the amount of Omega 3 we need. Fish oil contains the Omega 3 fatty acids Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both of which are vital for healthy brain development and function. Putting physical health problems aside, those of us who have low blood levels of Omega 3 are more likely to adopt a negative outlook on life, to behave impulsively and to feel depressed according to researchers at the University of Pittsburgh.
It stands to reason that if we increase our intake of Omega 3 fatty acids in the form of fish oil, then we might be able to improve mood and reduce, eliminate or even prevent many of the symptoms associated with a lack of these fatty acids. And this is exactly what researchers have found.
What the research says…
• According to a study led by Lawrence Whalley, a mental health professor at Aberdeen University, fish oil appears to help the brain to work faster, it increases IQ scores and slows down the ageing process by reducing inflammation.
• The Durham trials led by Dr Madeleine Portwood have consistently shown that fish oil with a high EPA content improves behaviour, concentration and learning resulting in better grades at school. • Adelaide University, who also used high EPA fish oil, claimed it to be an effective treatment for ADHD.
• Research led by Dr Andrew Stoll looked at the effect of Omega 3 fatty acids on Bipolar disorder and found that fish oil reduced the severity of the symptoms.
• Hibbeln et al found a direct link between lower fish consumption and the risk of developing postnatal depression and that research spanned 22 countries.
• An Italian study by Fontani et al concluded that Omega 3 supplementation improves complex cortical processing with improvements in mood and a reduction in anger, anxiety and depression
These examples represent only a fraction of the studies conducted but they demonstrate just how effective fish oil can be in positively influencing mood and mental functioning.
But one of the biggest studies to date on the effect of Omega 3 fatty acids on depression was conducted by Malcolm Peet at Sheffield University who found that ethyl-EPA, a highly concentrated and purified form of the Omega 3 fatty acid EPA, dramatically reduced depression. He, along with a growing number of others, now believe that EPA is the fatty acid primarily responsible for the profound effect on mood and brain functioning and not DHA as once was thought.
EPA versus DHA
Although we need both EPA and DHA equally, as Ralph Holman, an expert on fatty acids once said “DHA is structure and EPA is function”. We need DHA for the proper development of the brain during pregnancy and through the first few years of life, but the rest of the time we need EPA for the brain to function efficiently. Some research has also indicated that the presence of DHA might actually interfere with the beneficial properties of EPA making it somewhat less effective than fish oil with a very high EPA content.
How EPA works
No one yet knows exactly how EPA works, but it is believed to reduce inflammation, thin the blood, increase serotonin levels, and improve blood flow to the brain leading to greater inter-connectivity in the neural networks. EPA and other fatty acids we consume compete with each other to be converted into eicosanoids. These hormone-like compounds will either be pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory depending on the type of fatty acid that dominated at the time, for example, Omega 3 or Omega 6.
As EPA is constantly being used up as it were, we need to replenish our supplies in order to inhibit overproduction of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, which is known to put us at greater risk of depression and other health problems. Conclusion
Fish oil may not be a panacea for mental health problems, but there is little doubt that supplementing with fish oil high in EPA has the ability to improve mental functioning and to make a profound difference to the symptoms associated with mood related conditions like depression.

There are some symptoms which occur in fibromyalgia but not all of them occur in one patient and sometimes they might even change daily in the same patient.
When going to the doctor’s the patient will be asked some specific questions and the answers the patient gives will indicate the doctor whether the patient has fibromyalgia or not.
For example, the doctor will want to know if you have pains in specific areas of the body but there are no bruises; will want to know how intense these pains are, measured on a scale from 1 to 10. Most people who have fibromyalgia complain of a pain more intense than 6. Other questions are regarding to you sleep, if you have problems with sleeping more than 3 nights a weeks and if when you wake up you feel even more tired; if you needed to adjust you lifestyle because you might feel tired and achy; if you are depressed, confused, you forget things without any particular reason.
The fact than many patients answer positive at most of the questions is pointing them towards fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome or unrelenting fatigue but even if one answer is positive they can be suspected of having one of these affections and further tests are needed to see exactly which disease is present.
The symptoms of fibromyalgia ar
e: exhaustion, body pain which resembles to that caused by the flu; the presence of tender points, body aches, insomnia and depression (which is not caused by traumatic events but by chronic discomfort); some might complain about irritable bowel syndrome, others about headaches which are reoccurring periodically; in some cases the patients present reoccurring infections and cognitive problems.
The symptoms of chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome are extreme fatigue which is not related to any known cause, problems at work due to the constant fatigue, reoccurring sore throat, pain in the muscles and problems with concentration and even with the short term memory. Some might experience joint pains, tender lymph nodes, even chronic low grade fever. Headaches are present but hey are unlike those previously experienced.
The symptoms of unrelenting fatigue are: exhaustion which lasts a long time and does not seem to be solved by sleeping, problems in performing the daily activities at work and at home, problems with concentration, constant headaches, gaining weight and hormonal imbalances.
Having some of these symptoms can lead the doctor towards an adequate diagnosis but further tests need to be done in order to see exactly what affection is bothering the patient.

Home Remedies for Skin Disorders
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Skin is one of the most vulnerable organs of the body. Skin is the largest organ of the integumentary system. Skin also helps maintain a constant body temperature. Skin is composed of three primary layers: the epidermis, which provides waterproofing and serves as a barrier to infection; the dermis, which serves as a location for the appendages of skin; and the hypodermis (subcutaneous adipose layer), which is called the basement membrane. Skin has pigmentation, or melanin, provided by melanocytes, which absorb some of the potentially dangerous ultraviolet radiation in sunlight. It also contains DNA repair enzymes which help to reverse UV damage, and people who lack the genes for these enzymes suffer high rates of skin cancer. One form predominantly produced by UV light, malignant melanoma, is particularly invasive, causing it to spread quickly, and can often be deadly. Human skin pigmentation varies among populations in a striking manner. This has sometimes led to the classification of people on the basis of skin color. Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. It forms the waterproof, protective wrap over the body’s surface and is made up of stratified squamous epithelium with an underlying basal lamina. The epidermis contains no blood vessels, and is nourished by diffusion from the dermis. The main type of cells which make up the epidermis are keratinocytes, melanocytes, Langerhans cells and Merkels cells. The dermis is the layer of skin beneath the epidermis that consists of connective tissue and cushions the body from stress and strain.
The skin provides a remarkably good barrier against bacterial infections. Skin disorders cover a wide range of conditions, some benign, some very serious, and some even a sign of another underlying illness. Skin disorders can be uncomfortable and may cause chronic disabilities. In addition, because the skin is so visible, skin disorders can lead to psychological stress. Many types of bacteria can infect the skin. The most common are Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. Skin infections caused by less common bacteria may develop in hospitals or nursing homes or while gardening or swimming in a pond, lake, or ocean. Some people are at particular risk of contracting skin infections—for example, people with diabetes because they are likely to have poor blood flow, especially to the hands and feet, and because high levels of sugar in the blood decrease the ability of white blood cells to fight infections. There are more than 2,000 known skin disorders. There are many disorders of the skin ,such as acne, Acrochordons ,Albinism , Alopecia (Baldness) ,Athlete’s Foot ,Behcet Disease ,Blisters ,Dry Skin (Xerosis) ,Ectodermal Dysplasia ,Eczma (Atopic Dermatitis) ,Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Itching. People with AIDS or other immune disorders and those undergoing chemotherapy are at higher risk as well, because they have a weakened immune system. Skin that is inflamed or damaged by sunburn, scratching, or other trauma is more likely to be infected. In fact, any break in the skin predisposes a person to infection. Prevention involves keeping the skin undamaged and clean.

Vasectomy Recanalization
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Vasectomy Recanalization means either a Vasovasostomy or a Vasoepididymostomy. It denotes the process of reconnecting vas-to-vas or vas-to-epididymis so that sperm can once again inhabit the seminal fluid, which once ejaculated into the vagina, would impregnate the woman and make her conceive.
This canal/channel is what was cut and blocked by the earlier vasectomy.
Vasectomy Recanalization is carried out in an outpatient setting, under conscious sedation and is a short procedure with a quick recovery span.
In Vasectomy Recanalization, with both the procedures mentioned above, the highest success rates have been observed using the formal multi-layer technique, even though is also more challenging and time consuming.
Microsurgery results in the return of sperm to semen in 75 – 97 percent of patients and pregnancy occurs in 30 percent to 75 percent of female partners, subject to the time lapse from the earlier vasectomy.
Vasectomy Recanalization is a facile ‘Can Do’ chore for a Urologist with a good ‘Score’

Omega 3 EPA
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Introduction to Omega 3
Omega 3 fatty acids are known to be beneficial to health in a number of ways, and scientific evidence is accumulating to back up the beliefs of those who have taken it for years in the form of fish oil. Some scientists believe that, as well as reducing the risk of sudden cardiac death, Omega 3 can improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels. They can also reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by keeping the heart healthy.
There is much evidence to suggest that EPA especially benefits the diet and can help with a wide range of conditions and health issues. EPA is Eicosapentaenoic Acid, one of the two active ingredients in Omega 3 (the other being DHA or Docosahexaenoic Acid), and is now considered by some leading doctors and professors in the UK as being the single most vital nutrient in the functioning of the brain and nerve stimulation.
Upping the intake of Omega 3 can help with many ailments including Irritable Bowel Syndrome, depression and manic depression, schizophrenia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It is also known to assist weight loss and hair growth and to boost the immune system. Studies have also shown it may help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
What is Omega 3?
There are three classes of nutrients; proteins, carbohydrates and fat, which is also known as lipid. Fat’s function is to provide energy for the body, and pound per pound it contains more energy in the form of calories than protein and carbohydrate. The three types of fat are triglycerides, cholesterol and phospholipids. Fatty acids provide energy to organs including the heart as well as muscles – they are also building blocks for cell membranes, and energy storage for the body.
Omega 3 fish oil contains two active ingredients: EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid). Most fish oils on the market contain both these ingredients in various quantities – the argument that has arisen concerns which of these essential nutrients you need, and which is better than the other. The simple answer to this is that both are vital nutrients, but they are each important at different stages of life; it is becoming clear in the scientific community that they both have different functions.
DHA is now thought to constitute the ‘building blocks’ of the brain, forming about 8% of the brain by weight – this is why it is important for pregnant mothers to ensure an adequate supply throughout pregnancy. DHA is also added to some infant milk formulas by some leading manufacturers, as an infant requires a lot of DHA in the first two years of life to support the growth of the brain.
EPA however is different; this essential nutrient is now considered by some leading doctors and professors in the UK as being the single most vital nutrient in the functioning of the brain and nerve stimulation.
Nature’s anti-depressant
There have been several studies into the beneficial effects of EPA on various mental illnesses including depression and bipolar disorder, as well as schizophrenia. The conclusion has been that Omega 3 can significantly improve the symptoms of these conditions.
Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe, and disabling brain disease. Approximately one percent of the population develops schizophrenia during their lifetime – more than two million Americans suffer from the illness in any given year.
The strongest evidence that EPA helps schizophrenia comes from a study at Sheffield University by Dr Malcolm Peet and his colleagues. They did a study in patients with chronic, partially treatment-resistant schizophrenia. These patients continued on their existing medications. They were then randomised on a double-blind basis to receive either a placebo, or high EPA fish oil from sardines or anchovies, or high DHA fish oil from tuna. In other words, all the treatments were coded so that neither the patients nor the doctors knew which patient was receiving which treatment until the trial had been completed and the code broken. When the code was broken, the results were very clear. The placebo patients, as is usual in such experiments, showed a small improvement. The DHA patients also showed a small improvement, but in fact a lesser one than was evident in the placebo group, raising the possibility that DHA may not be hel
pful. In contrast, the patients on EPA showed a significant improvement which was comparable to that seen with the newer antipsychotic drugs, yet without the side effects.
Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in a person’s mood, energy, and ability to function. Some mornings can start with overriding feelings of joy, elation and power. By the time the afternoon has arrived this can shift to feelings of desperation, despair and depression. Symptoms of a mixed state often include agitation, trouble sleeping, and significant change in appetite, psychosis, and suicidal thinking. A person may have a very sad, hopeless mood while at the same time feeling extremely energized.
Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil are being studied to determine their usefulness, alone and when added to conventional medications, for long-term treatment of bipolar disorder. One such study was carried out by Dr Andrew Stoll over a four month period. The study was performed to examine whether omega 3 fatty acids also have mood stabilizing effects with people who have bipolar disorder. He found that the omega 3 fatty acid patient group had a significantly longer period of remission than the placebo group.
So can high grade ethyl EPA fish oil help with depression and low moods? Let’s take a look at the evidence. In one study involving 20 people with recurrent depression, researchers studied the effects of the specific omega 3 fatty acid known as pure EPA. Patients involved in this study randomly received either the ethyl EPA fish oil capsule or a sugar pill in addition to the anti depressant medication they were taking. After only four weeks, six out of ten patients receiving EPA had significantly reduced symptoms of depression.
How do I know I need Omega 3?
We all need Omega 3 and there are several ways to increase our intake in addition to taking a concentrated supplement. You can increase your intake of omega 3 fatty acids by eating more fish, walnuts, flaxseed oil and green leafy vegetables. For instance, you can obtain an adequate dosage of omega 3 fats by eating two salmon a week, or by taking a gram of omega 3 fatty acid supplement daily.
If you’re not getting enough Omega 3 there are several warning signs which may indicate a deficiency:
1) Fatty food craving
2) Ear wax accumulation
3) Sun-induced headaches
4) Leg cramps caused by walking
5) Tightness across shoulders
6) Brittle fingernails
7) Low moods, irritability
Thin / thick cracked heel calluses
9) Poor / slow wound healing
10) Yeast / candida infection
11) Chronic inflammations
12) Dry skin, dandruff
These may point to the fact that you are lacking Omega 3 in your diet and would benefit from upping your intake.
Why should I take Omega 3?
Omega 3 helps the body in all manner of ways – even if you feel healthy you will benefit from an increased intake. These are the five top reasons to take Omega 3.
1) Most of the modern western diets contain way too much omega 6 in the form of breads and pasta – supplementing your diet with an omega 3 fish oil supplement it will help to correct this imbalance.
2) High grade omega 3 EPA fish oil has been shown to be very beneficial in the fight against depression.
